In October 2003, two local, former Marriott executives with a love of wine and people saw a need for an independently owned wine shop in Reston. They envisioned a shop that would provide a selection of wine and craft beer to fit every palate and price point while also providing a place for the community to gather. Our motto has always been, “We’re here to help our friends, one bottle at a time.”

Since then, The Wine Cabinet has been dedicated to serving Reston and surrounding communities with a fun and welcoming yet knowledgeable staff. Our team loves food, travel, and of course wine and specialty craft beers! Our goal is to assist you in making the perfect selection for a special occasion or neighborhood party, pairing with a specific dish, or an everyday bottle.

The over 1,900 wines and craft beers in the store are each personally tasted and selected by the staff to ensure we carry quality wines and beers from boutique and family producers around the world. Customers also have the ability to taste wine and beers while learning directly from winemakers, brewers, importers, and educators at our weekly tastings and monthly classes.

The Wine Cabinet also offers fine cigars and specialty products, including gourmet cheese, meats, crackers, locally made artisan chocolates, soups from the Eastern Shore, olive oils, spices, jellies, cocktail mixers, and more. And you can find the perfect gift from The Wine Cabinet’s selection of wine and bar accessories, glassware, antiques, candles, and unique giftware, as well as gift baskets and gift certificates. We also arrange corporate gifts, custom gift baskets, special orders, local delivery and shipping.

Make every day an occasion at The Wine Cabinet!

  • Natalie Cohen is the newest member of The Wine Cabinet family. As a native to Reston, she has been a long-time customer to the store along with her parents who introduced her to the shop! During the day, Natalie teaches preschool in the area having fun with all the imaginative and creative things she works on with the children. Being a teacher and constantly learning what is new in the teaching profession has come in handy when learning all the wines in the store. Her bright and friendly personality helps to greet and welcome all customers to the store whether they are newcomers or regulars.

  • Rande Jenus retired from Marriott International in 2003 after decades of experience at both the hotel, regional and corporate level. Traveling extensively with Marriott while enjoying unique and fine dining experiences around the globe, he always dreamed of opening a service and education oriented fine wine shop in the Reston community.

Born just west of Boston, Massachusetts he is an avid Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins fan. One running joke is he opened a wine shop just to talk sports.

Whether it’s talking about food pairing or the latest cult craft beer Rande enjoys helping you find what’s just right for you. When not traveling to wine regions he also enjoys dining adventures here locally and loves to learn about new trends in food.

Rande has been committed to the Reston/Fairfax community since 1994 actively involved with the Chamber of Commerce, local charitable events and various other community undertakings.

Rande lives and loves the Reston dream while serving the community one bottle at a time!

  • Bill Lombardi served in the US Naval Air at Rota, Spain in the early 70s. He spent his off hours exploring the Southern Spanish wine regions with a focus on the Manzanilla sherry grown near Jerez and Sanlucar de Barrameda. Over the past few years, he has expanded his knowledge of wine with a focus on Bordeaux wines, Malbec, Zinfandel and Champagne. But with a name like Lombardi his first love will always be the Italians! Bill retired from Verizon in 2012 and lives in Reston with his wife, Elaine. They have two grown daughters and a grandson.

  • Kate Mackie has been a part of The Wine Cabinet from its inception. Kate does all the giftware buying and merchandising. Born in Augusta, GA, her southern heritage shines through frequently in her recipes and serving pieces. Her unerring sense for what is going to be hot next makes stopping by to check out her selections an important regular errand. She always has time to stop and chat and while she won't take any credit for it, she has an exceptional nose and palate for wine.

Mike Mackie retired from Marriott International in January 2001 after 30 years with the company. Mike was responsible for staff support throughout the world, including Food & Beverage. Mike traveled extensively and his lifelong love of wine was enhanced by his exposure to the many varieties all over the world. His favorite is Pinot Noir in all its many forms, but the pairing of food and wine is his true love. A Washington, DC native, Mike has the most fun suggesting a good match for a new menu or designing a menu around a selection of wine!!
