“Raspberry jam, spice, scorched earth, rose petal, cloves and new leather are some of the signatures. Knights Valley is often noted for Graves-like sense of gravel-infused minerality, naturally allied to a California expression of fruit. That is exactly what readers will find in the 2013.”

A bit about Knights Valley.......

Knights Valley is one of the most remote AVAs in Sonoma County, bordering Napa Valley to the east and Alexander Valley to the northwest. Protected from ocean influences, this region experiences a moderated climate, offering a longer and later growing season, which develops more dark fruit aromatics. Very fine textured soils allow for great drainage even at lower elevations, producing small berries that deliver powerful tannins and densely structured wines.

ARROWOOD....Meticulous sourcing. Minimal intervention.

Arrowood Winery sits on a hillside just outside the charming town of Glen Ellen in the rolling hills of the Sonoma Valley. As an icon in the region, Arrowood showcases Sonoma County’s ability to produce highly acclaimed wines with a focus on sustainable and organic farming practices.
The winery carries the legacy of industry pioneer Richard Arrowood, whose unshakeable ideals and attention to detail have been ingrained into the winemaking and winegrowing philosophy. Our wines compete on the world stage, yet do so with a distinct charm that is unmistakably Arrowood, and Sonoma County. Arrowood wines are crafted from grapes grown exclusively in prestigious vineyards throughout Sonoma County’s manysub-appellations - Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley, Carneros and Alexander Valley: Each contributes a unique character representing the soils and climate of that region.

Winemaking Philosophy:
Flexibility is the key to the Arrowood winemaking style. Single vineyard wines are made if they produce a complete wine with a complex personality. Otherwise, several components are blended together to form an assemblage of the highest entirety of Sonoma County, rather than showcasing a particular character or sub-region.
For the past eleven years, winemaker Heidi von der Mehden has been crafting wines in Sonoma County. Heidi joined the Arrowood winemaking team in 2007 as our Associate Winemaker. It was here that she worked alongside winemaster and winery founder Richard Arrowood, studying his timeless, traditional winemaking principals, whilesharing a passion for producing wines through sustainable farming practices.
