Eugenia Hobson has been a chef for the past thirty years. She was born and raised on the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea in western Greece. She learned the secrets of Greek cuisine from her grandmother for whom she was named.

Chef Eugenia has worked at several local Greek restaurants including Mykonos Grill (Rockville) and Athenian Plaka (Bethesda). She was most recently a chef at Nostos restaurant in Tysons Corner, where she worked since it first opened in 2011.

Chef Eugenia’s dishes have received glowing reviews from Tom Sietsema of the Washington Post and several food blogs. This restaurant is named after our mom as a small token of appreciation for everything she has done for us over the years.

The Wines!!

100% Moschofilero from the best high elevation vineyards in the mantinia plateau. Bosinakis is A Top quality moschofilero that can compete with noble aromatic varieties like gewu¨rztraminer. Long hang times, low yields, and extended contact on the light pink skins distinguish the Bosinakis style of intensity and elegance.

Santorini wine is produced from the exquisite white native variety of Assyrtiko carefully selected from the traditional vineyard of the island. This vineyard is considered to be the oldest in Greece, it has never been affected by the Phylloxera disease, and the grapes are grown on original stock. The result is the most distinctive, dry white wine, characterized by a bright yellow – white color. On the nose are delicate aromas of fruit - pear, lemon and pineapple. On the palate, the wine is smooth, rich, fruity and full-bodied. It has a balanced acidity and a long aftertaste.  An ideal accompaniment to grilled or marinated Octopus, fresh oysters, Branzino with fennel and lemon, lemon caper chicken.
Deep ruby color and a clear aromatic expression of ripe red cherries and sweet spices framed by complex earthy leathery aromas. On the palate the wine is soft with mild tannins, round and lovely to drink, fresh and with enough complexity for its style.  Serving suggestions-Kontosouvli (sliced charcoal rotisserie Pork with fresh lemon and Greek oregano.)

Wine Cabinet favorite!!  Aging in oak barrels.  Dark red, attractive color with a rich aroma bouquet, balanced aroma of red fruit with the sweet aroma of aging.
Food Pairing: Keftedes (Greek meatballs), pasta and yellow cheeses.

In 2009, Cavino had been awarded the “Best Winery in Greece Award” by the English magazine “Wine and Spirits Magazine”.
