DESCRIBE YOUR SONOMA VALLEY ROOTS?

Our parents moved to Sonoma back in 1989 to start the winery, so we were both born, raised and went to school here in town. The property we grew up on has an amazing history as the original site of the Sonoma Mission, so we’d dig for arrowheads and Native American artifacts in the vineyards, which helped drive home to us how long this community has been around. Our family has been very involved in the farming community through the wineries, and more recently in starting Greenstring Farms in Petaluma along with the illustrious Bobby Cannard.  We may not have been around as long as a lot of other families, but Sonoma is home. We’ve both been able to be more involved through Cline Cellars, it’s been a great outlet to meet people from the community.

WHAT SETS SONOMA VALLEY APART?

There are SO many things that set Sonoma apart, for one it’s one of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes around. We have Bodega Bay, Jenner, Sebastopol, the Sonoma square, and there is really so much to do! Not to mention it’s one of the greatest wine and produce growing regions in the world, making some killer Pinots, Chardonnays, and Rhone varietals that we get to enjoy alongside delicious locally-grown food. But aside from that, we both agree that what really makes Sonoma so unique is the people. This community is incredible, everyone is so welcoming, down to earth, and happy. I don’t think there is any other place like it.

FAVORITE PLACE ONLY THE LOCALS KNOW?

We love the El Gitano taco truck! Their tacos are unbelievable! Also, the tortillas, chips, and salsa from Tortilleria Jalisco are second to none! Can you tell we like Mexican food?

ONE LESSON YOU CHERISH FROM YOUR PARENT’S GENERATION?

That you should always be connected to the land. We’re lucky because we live in a place where respect for the land is an essential part of the local economy and tradition. There is a huge emphasis on sustaininablity in Sonoma County which stems from family farms being passed down for generations, not simply as a passing trend. Our dad is one of the founders of Green String farms, and growing up we were lucky enough to see and really respect the hard work it takes to grow produce before it hit the dinner table, a lesson we definitely want to pass on to future Cline generations!

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR GUILTY PLEASURES?

Costco hot dogs? Oysters and champagne.

WHAT ARE YOU INSPIRED BY?

Our parents. They are some of the hardest working people around, but still maintain a sense of humor about life!

FAVORITE WINE (BESIDES YOUR OWN)?

Syrah from pretty much anywhere in the world. Some favorites are Wind Gap, Thierry Allmand, and Arnot- Roberts.

WHAT WOULD YOUR LAST MEAL BE?

Breakfast for dinner!

FAVORITE HOLIDAY TRADITION?

Not really a specific tradition, we just really love that we are able to all get together. There are nine of us so it makes it hard to find time the rest of the year, but we usually all get together for the Holidays!

HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?

We are both committed to growing the family business. We are hoping can continue the legacy of our parents and we want to positively contribute to this incredible business and the of way of life that they’ve created!
