The Vineyard!!
The Donati Family Estate Vineyard site enjoys a variety of soils from limestone to decomposed granite to clay loam, and access to the cooling ocean breezes of the Monterey Bay. Like much of southern Napa, Sonoma, and Monterey counties, Paicines has long warm days followed by cool nights.

"It's a lot cooler than people think it would be here", says Matt. "On the UC Davis scale of growing areas and heat where Region I is the coolest and V the warmest, Paicines is a cool Region II."

The vineyard is planted to various select clones of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Syrah, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc and Petit Verdot. Vine selections are carefully screened for viral diseases prior to planting, ensuring that the future of the vineyard is secure, and that vine health and fruit integrity remain intact from planting through harvest.

Matt Donati believes in hands-on year-round vineyard management to create an environment where the grapes themselves can be left alone to thrive during ripening. Regular, judicious thinning of shoots during the growing season, attention to every detail of vine canopy training and light management within the fruiting zone, pre and post-veraison green fruit removal, along with scientific analysis of soil and leaf moisture throughout the growing season ensures that every aspect of the Donati viticultural program contributes to the success of the vintage.

Primary efforts are directed at sustainable farming, allowing for natural predators and reduced use of pesticides to provide a clean, hospitable environment for vine growth and fruit maturation. Of course, this path of action requires extreme diligence in scouting for possible problems. But, with active personnel regularly hand-tending each and every vine, the family is gradually learning that effective and efficient sustainable practices can indeed make a significant difference in both the local environment and in the ultimate grape and wine quality.

The Wines!!
Kunde Sauvignon Blanc $16.99
The name Magnolia Lane pays tribute to the lane lined with magnificent century-old Magnolia trees that border the entrance to our ranch where our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown. This is a crisp yet smooth wine offering lovely aromas of orange blossoms with orange marmalade, lemon bar and citrus zest notes on the palate.

Winemaker’s Comments
“Magnolia Lane has long been a signature wine for Kunde Family Winery and a go-to wine for our guests and Wine Club members. This wine offers bright crisp acid, beautiful citrus notes, and a pleasant flavor that lingers just a bit. I recommend drinking this wine with a little chill on it. Our Sauvignon Blanc is best accompanied by fresh oysters or light cheeses on the patio with friends.”

Donati Family Sisters Forever Unoaked Chardonnay $14.99
Winemaker Notes Sisters Forever Un-Oaked Chardonnay offers notes of stone fruit, banana, and citrus.
The wine has a lush mouthfeel with crisp acidity on the finish.

Critical Acclaim - WW89: Wilfred Wong of Wine.com
"The 2015 Donati Family Vineyards Sisters Forever Un-Oaked Chardonnay displays attractive core fruit flavors and bright palate textures. The wine's perky finish pairs it well with red Ahi tuna sashimi." (Tasted: November 10, 2017, San Francisco, CA)

Donati Family Zinfandel $14.99
A robust red wine The grape's high sugar content can be fermented into levels of alcohol exceeding 15 percent. Berry fruit flavors predominate along with blackberry, anise and pepper notes. Great with grilled meats!?

Donati Family Claret $19.99
Our most popular wine, the 2014 Claret features aromas of ripe strawberry and cocoa with notes of cherry and cola on the finish.
A real crowd pleaser!!?

Donati Family "The Immigrant" $29.99
Albino Donati immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1907.  Just like many others who came to America, he arrived with a commitment to create a better life for his family. His hard work, determination, and perserverance have created footsteps for our family to follow for generations.  The creation of "The Immigrant" is in honor of his legacy.

This wine is the newest addition to the premium tier of the Donati Portfolio.

Dark, dense fruit, layered with hints of oak and spice.  Complex with a long finish.

Evil Twin "Aus Mas Jesus" Imperial Stout 12 oz $8.99
"Pours pitch black with a thin brown head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, mocha, mild dark chocolate, vanilla and a bit of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a hint of sweetness, peaty smoke, dark chocolate, dark dried fruit, finishing malty, slightly smoky with a light hop bitterness. Medium, nicely creamy body, good mouth feel. A very pleasant dark, toasty and mildly smoky imperial stout with great balance and so densely flavorful that the ABV is barely noticeable. Superb. Pricey, but rewarding. Evil Twin sure know how to pick its participating breweries. This Spanish one knows its chops."
