2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

 Paso Robles, California
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Petite Sirah

You may remember we featured the 2015 vintage in the spring.
We sold out very quickly and were unable to keep much on the shelf afterwards.
This bottling is every bit as palate pleasing as the last, with just a touch more dark fruit.
As their vines have aged and a cooling trend in the region has enabled longer hang time, Treana has improved their wine year after year.
This vintage continues that trend - is a great wine and a great value.

91 Points! The Wine Enthusiast

"Extremely rich, deeply extracted and vibrant on the nose, this bottling by Austin Hope is loaded with vanilla, cassis, caramel and bourbon aromas.
It's rich, lush and soft on the palate, offering vanilla, sea-salt caramel and coffee flavors set against a black cherry core." -

Our Thoughts.........

Rich and palate coating, the intense black fruit flavors are marked by a distinctive toasted/smoky-oak. The tannins are moderate and velvety, and the acidity balances the richness of the wine, leading to a long oak-driven finish.

A bit about the Family…
The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in this barely-discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling, oak-studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine within the Central Coast.

Gone are the apple orchards. Today, the Hopes cultivate mature vineyards of the varieties best suited to their area including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvedre and Grenache. Vine density has increased and each vine is asked to produce very little fruit. The terroir of this domain expresses itself in its unique regional character. Regardless of the varieties planted, the expression of Paso Robles is displayed in the glass with spice, licorice and berry in the nose, soft textures and silky tannins on the palate.

A bit about Paso Robles…

Paso Robles is a place like no other. Rich, diverse soils and oak-studded hills create a stunning landscape. The hot summer sun and cool evening breezes sweeping in off the Pacific are reliable and well-suited to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah we use to craft our signature blend, Treana Red. The Cabernet imparts structure through its generous fruit flavor and velvety mouthfeel, while the Syrah contributes a smoky richness thanks to the generous warmth of the sun, which mimics that of the Côte-Rôtie.
Extending to Monterey in the north and Santa Barbara in the south, California’s Central Coast showcases a wide array of wine growing appellations. Treana’s winemakers find the climate of Monterey to be perfect for imparting the delicate acidity found in Treana White. The foothills of the San Lucia highlands get magnificent morning sun exposure, brilliant light that we capture in the bottle.
