Bodega Gormaz
12 Linajes  Rerva
 2012
Ribera del Duero, Spain

An elegant wine from an 80 year old vineyard that is just beautiful on the nose and palate. Aged in 70% new French oak and allowed to sit in the bottle this style of tempranillo is one of our favorites from the Duero.

The Legend of 12 Linajes
There is a legend that has been told for centuries, a legend that took place in a world filled with brave knights, beautiful damsels, impregnable castles and great battles in an old Europe in which there was once a great king, for some, the perfect king. In the 12th Century, the 12 Linajes distinguished wheel of shields was made. As was the case with the round table, the knights from the different lineages were equals including King Alfonso who is in the middle on his horse.
This wine honors that tradition.

94 Points - Editors Choice, The Wine Enthusiast

"Toasty blackberry and cassis aromas are classic for Ribera, while the firm, compact palate is structured but not fiercely tannic. Flavors of spiced blackberry, plum and fig finish with the right interplay between fruit and oak. Drink through 2028."

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

Cherry red, intense and brilliant. On the nose, complex and elegant, predominating red and black fruits with balsamic notes.
On the palate it's silky and beautifully ripe.
Smooth yet with full bodied tannins, finishes with balsamic and roasted coffee notes. Yum.
