The philosopher entrepreneur.
Thirty years ago, a successful industrialist decided to devote himself to his great passion: wine-growing.
And so began a fascinating and complex story that culminated in the acquisition and valorization of three very important estates in Tuscany.
The purchase and restoration of an historic monastery (dating from 1000) at Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the heart of the Siena Chianti Classico area, saw the creation of a prestigious agricultural and residential complex, the present-day Castello di Monastero.
Montalcino, the homeland of one of the most famous wines in the world, saw the acquisition and renovation of the Coldisole estate joined.
Lastly, the foundation of Poggio alle Sughere in the Tuscan Maremma area.
Production philosophy. Attention focuses on territory and grapes: the wines must be an expression of these two components and highlight there best aspects through attentive management of the vineyards, harvest, vinification and ageing.
Cristina Marchesi Biography
Born in Milan in northern Italy, lieved a big part of her life in Germany. She has always been involved into all family activities, both industrial and wines. Since her father Lionello has retired, she manages with great passion and enthusiasm this portfolio of wonderful wineries. From the age of 16 she worked in her spare time and holidays in Tuscany. She learned to understand tuscan traditions, to love the territory and above all to appreciate the extraordinary grape variety: Sangiovese. Fascinated by
genetics, she is passionate about learning the adaptations of this eclectic vine in all Tuscan environments thanks to the great climatic bio-diversity of the various production sites form the northern. Radda in Chianti, to the middle in Castelnuovo Berardenga and Montalcino and the very south in Maremma. She works with a very young and international team, that has married the Tuscan tradition with a good balance of modernity. At his side an agronomist and a lady-oenologist, who have brought a great
Tuscan character in the wines but above all a great elegance. Her dream: To have enough time in life to discover all the secrets of Sangiovese!!
