91 Points Wine Spectator (2016 Vintage)
This bold red is intense and expressive.
Cassis and blueberry flavors mingle with cola, cocoa and licorice notes.
Chewy tannins and balsamic acidity amplify the impact. Heady, ripe and in the modern style. Monastrell.
Pairings: Grilled Salmon or Tuna; Barbecue Ribs
Mandorlaia Morellino di Scansano $22.99
Maremma, the coastal area of Southern Tuscany, is revealing its great potential for producing fine wines, and “I Massi” di Mandorlaia makes the case. Sangiovese, the backbone of Morellino, demonstrates power and elegance. Small percentages of Alicante, Merlot and Cabernet lend lushness. Dark intense purple color. Complex spicy and mineral notes lead to fruity aromas, round body, light acidic note well harmonized with powerful alcohol. Nice balsamic nose finish.
Foods: Rich pasta dishes such as Canneloni and Lasagna; Steak Au Poivre and Boeuf Bourgognon
The Beers!!
Maine Beer Co. Another One, 500 mL $8.99
ABV 7%
Intensely hoppy American IPA, brewed as the light-colored counterpart to Weez (both beers incorporate the exact same kettle and dry hopping schedule).
Another One has a very clean malt palate, leaving little but hoppy resins on the tongue, and finishes dry and crisp.
Hops – Warrior, Cascade, Citra, Simcoe
Two Roads "Lil Juicy" Double Dry Hopped New England style IPA, 4 pack 16 oz. $14.99
ABV 5.2%
An unfiltered, double dry hopped New England IPA that uses generous amounts of galaxy, citra and azacca hops.
The result is a “crushable” IPA with notes of tropical juicy fruits, orange, lemon-lime and florals.
