92 Points!  Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"The 2013 Proprietary Red is dark, plush and inviting.
Here, too, the flavors are lifted by the energy and brightness of the year.
Sweet red cherry, plum, licorice, mint and savory herbs add nuance throughout."

Our Thoughts.........

 Concentrated powerful mountain fruit drives this muscular well tailored red.
Initially, aromas of savory black fruit and tantalizing espresso beans drift from the glass;
a couple of swirls release notes of ripe black currant fruit and rich powdered cocoa.
The mouthfeel is full and expresses a singular seamless flavor of dark chocolate covered blackberries that evolves into a long and clean dark cherry chocolate finish with secondary flavors of sweet tobacco and nutty cigar box complementing the abundant fruit. The oak aging is well tempered allowing the perfectly ripened mountain fruit to shine through.
Drink this now thru next year.

A bit about Arrowood ….

Arrowood is 100% Sonoma County. Since its founding by Richard and Alis Arrowood in 1986, the winery has produced high-character wines from sustainably and organically farmed vineyards throughout Sonoma County.

Arrowood is located in the historic Sonoma Valley, a small sub-appellation of Sonoma County sheltered at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. Often described as a warm pocket in a cool region, this area is particularly well suited to red Bordeaux varieties.

Arrowood also sources fruit from a number of well-respected vineyards strategically scattered throughout Sonoma County. These sites are all sustainably or organically farmed and celebrated for their history of producing great wine. Included among Arrowood’s stable of growers are: Arrowood Estate Vineyard, Monte Rosso Vineyard, Justi Creek Vineyards, Smothers-Remick Ridge Vineyard, Saralee’s Vineyard and Alary Vineyard.

The winery is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon and their Proprietary Red. The Sonoma County bottling delivers the high-toned aromatics and firm acidity that typify this cooler, maritime AVA. The flagship Réserve Spéciale features fruit from a handful of hillside vineyards just to the west of the Mayacamas ridge. It offers complex aromas, great concentration and fine tannins.
Winemaker Kristina Werner’s international experience has helped shape her views on farming, winemaking and wine style. In addition to her travels along the wine roads of Western Europe, Kristina has worked at wineries in New Zealand, Portugal, Argentina and Sonoma County. Arrowood has been owned and operated by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke since 2006.
