2016
Willamette Valley, Oregon

With only 1184 cases produced this elegant medium bodied chardonnay drinks like an upper end white burgundy,
but with Willamette’s classic white peach and tangerine essence on the palate!

93 Points Antonio Galloni's Vinous
"Green-tinged gold.
Ripe melon, pear, tangerine and toasty lees on the highly perfumed nose;
a mineral flourish lends focus and lift. Silky and seamless on the palate, displaying concentrated orchard and citrus fruit flavors that pick up a refreshingly bitter quinine note with aeration. Deftly blends richness and delicacy and closes with strong, tangy persistence and an echo of smoky minerals."

Our thoughts on this wine.....

This 100% Chardonnay offers aromas of golden apple and honey dew.
On the palate, it shows primary flavors of bosc pear and granny smith apple, as well as secondary flavors of oyster shell and lemon peel. The finish is racy, bright and lingering.
The diversity in vineyard sources spans four sup-appellations and lends to the complexity and tension that they’ve achieved in this wine.  During the fermentation process they added yet another element to the myriad of flavors that define their North Valley Chardonnay by fermenting in both Stainless steel and French oak.  I was stunned by how much I enjoyed this wine at our tasting and in fact we bought every bottle available of the 2016.

Soter….

When setting out to create a personality-driven, wildly complex Chardonnay that epitomizes Willamette Valley terroir,
and keep it at a value price, having the skill-set of two winemaking veterans has it’s advantage.
This brilliantly made Chardonnay was composed by one of the most talented winemaking duos on the North Coast.
Tony Soter spent 30 years in Napa Valley at iconic wineries including,
Chappellet, Spottswoode, Shafer and Araujo, and also founded Etude Winery in 1980.
His partner James Cahill is a veteran with 20 harvests in Oregon and he honed his skills at Beaux Freres.
For their North Valley Chardonnay, they source fruit from family growers in the Northern region of the Willamette Valley and through meticulous, hands-on attention to farming practices, they’re able to achieve a level of quality normally associated with estate grown wines.
