2018
75% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah
Courthezon, Rhone Valley, France

This is the little brother to Xavier's Lirac featured in August!
His skill of sourcing fruit is displayed in this bottling, it is just as succulent and perfectly balanced.
This blend works well with all the cooler weather fall foods we love.

A small production using 76 parcels on a variety of terroirs with a vine average of over 45 years,
sourced mostly from higher altitude parcels around Vaucluse.

91 Points James Suckling
"A bright nose with violets and blueberries, leading to a palate with very fresh and juicy
dark-cherry and cassis flavors and fine, succulent and even-paced tannins. Drink now."

"Xavier Vignon, along with Philippe Cambie, are probably the two most highly renowned oenologists in Chateauneuf du Pape as well as some of the surrounding Cotes du Rhone regions. He is the consultant for such well-known domaines as Raymond Usseglio, Jerome Quiot, Beaurenard, LaNerthe, Mont Redon, Marcoux, Grand Veneur and La Gardine. They access gorgeous fruit from many different appellations and are doing a top-flight job of getting impressive quality into the bottle. Moreover, there are some top values in their portfolio as well. Many of his wines are released quite late onto the market, as he prefers to age wines up to three winters before bottling and two winters after bottling." - Robert Parker

Our Thoughts on this wine....

Boasts assertive blueberry and blackberry fruit. Somewhere between velvety and silky, it's elegant and beautifully drinkable.
Attractive notes of blue and red fruits, hint of peppery herbs, all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant,
very drinkable Côtes du Rhône that’s going to put a smile on your face. Drink now thru 2022.
Serve with lamb, game meat, poultry, braised beef or stew, white chili, Jambalaya, veal, ratatouille, meat pizza, Indian or spicy Thai fare and even meaty fish.
On the cheese side Camembert, Triple cream Brie, Ossau-Iraty , a hard goat’s cheese and a soft fontina.

About Xavier.........

Oenologist consultant for twenty years in Chateauneuf du Pape and Southern Rhone Valley, Xavier Vignon is considered one of the most prominent consultants in the region. He assembles his own wines under his signature by adding a touch of modernity to the sincere expression of the Rhone terroirs. Each vintage Xavier is the fruit of meticulous work and a rigorous selection. The diversity of the Rhone terroirs, combined with the freedom offered by small structure, allows him, vintage after vintage, to select the wines that will allow Xavier's blends to combine concentration, minerality, and nobility of the fruit.

For the last 15 years, oenologist Xavier Vignon has become internationally known for being the winemaker of several of the best domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and around (La Nerthe, La Vieille Julienne, Beaurenard, La Mordorée, etc.)

In 2002, some friends (who are wine importers) asked him if he can create his own wine. Choosing amongst the best wines he has made, he creates a blended Rhône with different vintages, and different appellations. His ideal wine, easy to understand, modern, powerful and a great value for money, 100% Xavier was born.
