 De’ Vasari "Le Lodge"
Super Tuscan

 2015

50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon

Arezzo, Aretino
Tuscany, Italy

An extraordinary vintage, drinking perfectly now!

One sip of this Toscana and you will know that the 2015 Vintage is clearly living up to its reputation. Back in May, Rande stayed in San Gimignano, which is just 30 minutes west of Arezzo and was surprised to find this vintage still available. We think this smaller producer (who doesn’t submit their wines for ratings) has been forgotten due to Covid shipping challenges and the critical praise of the2016 vintage.
Anyway its all to our benefit, Enjoy.

What Wine Spectator says about the Tuscany 2015 vintage…..
97 Points
“Long-lived, powerful and concentrated reds, yet the best have purity and elegance; great value!”

Our Thoughts on this wine....
 Dark red in color.
Its nose is intense and complex defined by notes of wild berries; blueberries and black currants, and notes of toasted hazelnuts, spices and toasty vanilla. A medium-full-bodied palate is well rounded with supple velvety tannins a hint of coconut and dark spices on the long finish.
A treat at an affordable price.

A bit about Green hills, ancient villages and cities of art that make up what is the Aretino territory.....

ARETINE VALLEY MEETING POINT
The confluence point of three of the four valleys that are part of the province of Arezzo, is surrounded to the north by the Casentino, to the south from the Chiana Valley, to the east from the Valtiberina where the first section of the Tiber flows and finally, to the northwest from the upper Valdarno with its characteristic "flounce" landscape consisting of yellow reliefs due to the stratification of clay, gravel and sand that creates striking and colorful scenery.

ARETINO, HOME OF GREAT ARTISTS
But the Aretino is above all the home of great artists such as Petrarca, Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo who have left signs of their art in various sites of the territory. For fans of Romanesque art,the different churches and castles of the territory allow a full immersion in the Middle Ages although several centuries before much of the province of Arezzo was inhabited by the ancient and fascinating population of the Etruscans, testifying to the great importance of the same city of Arezzo in the Etruscan era.
