Valle de Uco, Mendoza Argentina

A special
Open Bottle Thursday
this week!

Come meet the Owner of  Los Noques Winery

Mr.  Rodrigo Leone
here in the shop between
400PM – 730PM on Thursday!

He will be tasting not only his fabulous Reserve Malbec,
but also his Cabernet Franc and Winemakers Red Blend!
Yes, he will be signing bottles!

Drinking perfect now!

These wines are all exceptional values!

The Arrigoni Family pulled no punches when they namedtheir winery Los Noques.
In Spanish, that translates to "the knockouts", and it certainly fits here.

With each bottle numbered the Reserve Malbec is just too small a production to bother with US ratings. Unlike a lot of Malbec’s that are made just for the US market (and unheard of by Argentineans) most of Rodrigo’s wines are sold within his home country.

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

The fruit characteristics are dark and brooding, with black cherry, wild raspberries, and overly ripe plum all mingling from start to finish.
Notes of oak, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and tobacco come in on the finish and linger for quite a while on the tongue.
The texture here is really nice. Full-bodied, good tannin and ample acidity.
Drink now thru 2023.

A bit of history in their words.....

It wasn't until the 1960s that Juan Arrigoni, an Italian immigrant, planted his firstvineyard. He sold his grapes to local wineries for over 50 years before his offspring purchased a winery and decided to make their own wine.

The original Los Noques winery was built in 1938 in Argentina's Uco Valley.
It was the first winery in the region.
The Arrigoni Family purchased it in 2005 and upgraded its cellars and equipment to modern day standards.

The vineyards are located in the Valle de Uco, Mendoza, at an altitude of 400 feet above the sea level.
The soil is calcareous and sandy on the surface but stony in depth.
This type of soil, typical of the Gualtallary area where the vineyards are located,
produces naturally low yielding vines resulting in a very high concentration of flavors.
