80% Grenache and 20% Syrah

Courthezon, France

This wine drinks like many that are TWICE the price!

It's been two years since we have been able to offer this, our favorite Lirac, for Open Bottle Thursday.
We managed to convince the Importer to save this for us to offer
during the Holidays as the vintage is outstanding, enjoy!

"An 80-20 blend of Grenache and Syrah, Vignon's 2019 Lirac is drawn from multiple parcels with galets roulés over clay soils. Roughly one-third went into oak, while the rest stayed in tank. It may be the most complex of the various Vignon "Signature" offerings, marrying hints of garrigue and licorice with mixed berries and hints of oak. It's medium to full-bodied, silky and forward, with the same lip-smacking drinkability factor that marks all of Vignon's wines on the finish."

"Xavier Vignon, along with Philippe Cambie, are probably the two most highly renowned oenologists in Chateauneuf du Pape as well as some of the surrounding Cotes du Rhone regions. He is the consultant for such well-known domaines as Raymond Usseglio, Jerome Quiot, Beaurenard, LaNerthe, Mont Redon, Marcoux, Grand Veneur and La Gardine. They access gorgeous fruit from many different appellations and are doing a top-flight job of getting impressive quality into the bottle. Moreover, there are some top values in their portfolio as well. Many of his wines are released quite late onto the market, as he prefers to age wines up to three winters before bottling and two winters after bottling." - Robert Parker

Our Thoughts on this wine....
Sapphire purple with violet tints.
On the nose, the beautiful ripeness offers everything an array of black fruits
(cherries, blackberries) and toasted spices.
On the palate, fine and concentrated tannins are balanced by a subtle firmness with spice
and a hint of red licorice. Delicious black and red fruit notes complete the long finish.
Drink now and over the next 4-5 years.

About Xavier.........
Oenologist consultant for twenty years in Chateauneuf du Pape and Southern Rhone Valley,
Xavier Vignon is considered one of the most prominent consultants in the region.
He assembles his own wines under his signature by adding a touch of modernity
to the sincere expression of the Rhone terroirs.
Each vintage Xavier is the fruit of meticulous work and a rigorous selection.
The diversity of the Rhone terroirs, combined with the freedom offered by small structure, allows him, vintage after vintage, to select the wines that will allow Xavier's blends to combine concentration, minerality, and nobility of the fruit.

For the last 15 years, oenologist Xavier Vignon has become internationally known
for being the winemaker of several of the best domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and around
(La Nerthe, La Vieille Julienne, Beaurenard, La Mordorée, etc.)
In 2002, some friends (who are wine importers) asked him if he could create his own wine.
Choosing from the best wines he had made, he created a blended Rhône with different vintages, and different appellations.
His ideal wine, easy to understand, modern, powerful and a great value for money, 100% Xavier was born.
