The Vineyard!

Grapes have grown in Cazal Viel (Latin for Old House) since Roman times.

Our missions and commitments:

  • Consistency: produce top quality wines every vintage
  • Focus on the balance, purity and minerality of our wines
  • Respect the expertise and wisdom of previous generations that help us adapt to the specific conditions of our vineyards and terroir
  • Always work with a long-term vision, not only within the vineyard but also with our partners
  • Respect the principles of ‘sustainable agriculture’ and minimize the impact of our farming on the surrounding environment

Laurent and his team work tirelessly every day to ensure the consistency of their wines.
The team strives to constantly improve the quality of all the wines, and this work begins in the vineyard. The use of sustainable agriculture methods (verging on organic as Jancis Robinson recently described) is a key factor. Laurent believes in the use of local and international experts in critical areas such as irrigation and terroir studies. Pooling all this knowledge over time allows him to keep improving the quality of the wines. Laurent does not believe in excessive intervention. For him, wine is above all, purely a matter of vines and terroir: low yields, hard work throughout the year in the vineyard and respect of the land are essential for success. “With noble varietals and the appropriate terroir, a truly fine wine is the result of a year’s dedicated work in the vineyard. With Mother Nature’s help, I only need to add some subtle touches of my own”. A careful selection of barrels and appropriate aging bring consistency and character to the final nectar. These are the key factors for ultimate success.

Solas Chardonnay is a well-balanced, food-friendly wine which treads the fine line between rich oak aged character and crisp minerality. This complex wine shows generous fruit character coupled with a burst of aromatic, crisp pear.
A classic Burgundian style French Chardonnay which will pair beautifully with fine cuisine such as seared scallops or a duck terrine. Ready to drink, serve between 10°C and 12°C.

The Beers!!!

Six Point Crisp 6 pack $12.99
ABV 5.4%, IBU 44 RateBeer 3.93
We were sixty feet underground when the beer came calling.
While sinking tankards in ancient beer caves near the foot of the Alps, inspiration struck — and at that exact moment, THE CRISP was born. The can in your hand turns obsession to reality.  Tettnang and Hallertau Hops, 100% sourced directly from Germany, give THE CRISP that signature floral aroma. Cargill Pilsner Malt is the backbone, and helps make the finish snappy and clean. Legit pilz has a hop aroma that leaps from the glass — THE CRISP blasts you with a huge floral aroma, but finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing.

Adroit Theory, Death of Civilization New England IPA 22oz $14.99

ABV 8.2%, IBU 74, RateBeer 4.1
A big, sweet aroma of hops, tropical fruit, citrus, and malt.
Tasted of a whole lot of citrus fruit (lemon in particular), lots of hops (not too much, though), a tinge of malt, a hint of pine, and a heap of tropical (passion fruit, mango). This is a razor sharp, incredibly focused flavor. The hops and fruit elements are on equal footing, creating a powerful taste. A well-carbonated beer with a zesty finish. Medium-bodied.

New Holland Hoptronix Double IPA $16.99

ABV 9.0, IBU 70 BeerAdvocate 4.2
Hoptronix 1-ups the game with its galactic bitterness.
Mosaic hops give this IPA a dank aroma, yet it finishes smooth and crisp.
Pours a deep burnt orange color with a tightly formed half finger white head atop that sticks like glue to the glass.Tangerine and sweet onion stand out most in the nose for me.Very fruity on the palate, tangerine, mango, and orange flavors with a hint of that sweet onion, not much bitterness. It's sticky but doesn't get to heavy handed in the sweetness department with some sweet dough and toffee,a fuller chewy feel for a beer of this style wich is nice.I really like this DIPA not to sweet with great fruity hop flavors.
