Russian River Valley Chardonnay 201

90 points The Wine Enthusiast

"Caramelized apple and vanilla notes give this wine a rich, concentrated personality.
With its full-bodied embrace of bold, ripe flavor, it delivers layers of spice and oak,
supported by juicy acidity." -
VIRGINIE BOONE, Contributing Editor

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

An arresting color of Light Straw precedes the aromas of tangerine, apricot, and pineapple to blossom from the glass.
The taste is of rich and well-spiced ripe apple, peach pastry and almond tart feature buttery accents.
Hazelnut cream and clove linger on the finish.
Perfect for a rich seafood entree or a creamy seafood appetizer. Great with Phyllo and crusty Desserts.

DAVID BRUCE - Victor at The Judgement in Paris.

David Bruce Winery has earned an international reputation, throughout its nearly four decades, for its dedication to producing the greatest pinot noir in the world. His Chardonnay gets no less attention.

In 1976, David Bruce Chardonnay was invited to participate in the now famous "Judgment of Paris," in which California Cabernets and Chardonnays outscored French Bordeaux and Burgundies in a blind tasting in France. David Bruce Winery was one of only 12 California wineries to be included, and 40 years later David Bruce Chardonnay still delivers exceptional taste and pleases the most discerning consumer palates.

In pursuit of his goals, the winery has adhered to traditional European winemaking practices that trace their lineage back to the early pioneers of winemaking in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley. David Bruce Winery has also been at the forefront of efforts to develop innovative new methods that have changed the face of winemaking in California.

Three distinct vineyards in the complex mountain region come together in this blend. R bar R Ranch is the coolest site, offering crisp flavors of toast, apples and a subtle note of flint. The Estate vineyard, growing in lean sandy soil at an elevation of nearly 2200 feet, lends concentrated orange and apricot characters and an unctuous mouthfeel. These wines are barrel fermented in French oak and aged on the lees for ten months to add richness and toasty flavors to the wine.

"We find the fruit intensity of our chardonnay increases with bottle age, and while the wine is pleasant now, expect it to grow more complex for the next few years."
