Red Blend Tuscany,Italy
 2015
65% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot

Yes, only the Italians can make a Bordeaux style blend that will turn your head like this......
 think Maserati!
This bottling has scored well the last ten years all driven by the cool vineyard on their estate.
Very impressive!

95+ Points  - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Valadorna is a dark and thickly endowed red wine that boasts a rich and lasting grip on the palate. The bouquet offers depth and complexity with dark fruit, leather, cured tobacco and spice.
There are also softer notes of chocolate and ground espresso beans.
The wine"s seamless integration of flavors leads to increased momentum and intensity
as the wine continues to open in the glass."

92 Points The Wine Spectator

"This rich, powerful red, packed with blackberry and blueberry fruit, is beginning to mellow, offering a woodsy panoply of mushroom, humus and autumn leaves in the background.
There are still some tannins to resolve.
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032."

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

In the glass shows a dark core of ruby color with a very thin red meniscus.
On the nose, concentrated and condensed of black cherry liquor, ripe black and red plum, and a hint of dried cranberry mark this wine as a ripe expression of Toscana IGT.
Also non-fruits of dried herbs, camphor, rose petal, and toasted baking spices add an aromatic lift. Each of these flavors is confirmed on the palate, with additional nuances of melted cocoa and toasted bread. Though driven with opulent fruit, the wine"s texture is balanced by Tuscan acidity, and firm tannins, which are in control of the overall picture. The finish is balanced and mouthwatering.

What is I.G.T.?
IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) designations allow foreign grape varieties to be added.
It is used most famously in Tuscany with the addition of French varietals like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon
to Chianti Classico, creating the Supertuscans.
It is now in every Italian region except Piedmont.

A bit about Tenuta di Arceno ….

Tenuta di Arceno is an ancient Tuscan estate with a diverse portfolio of the highest quality wines across two classification levels – three wines centered on the native Sangiovese grape in the Chianti Classico DOCG collection; and three wines celebrating the estate’s international varieties under the Toscana IGT designation. The estate is situated at the southernmost-edge of Chianti Classico in the butterfly-shaped commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, closest in proximity to Siena and rightfully referred to as ‘the most Senese Chianti Classico. It’s home to other world-renowned producers and stylistically distinct from counterparts to the north.
