2017
Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, California

Established in 1895!

Named after the perfect type of soil to grow Zinfandel , the “Cortina” series consists of very deep,
somewhat excessively drained soils on alluvial fans and floodplains.
Some of you long in the tooth may remember back in 2004,
just after we opened we had Pete Seghesio behind the Tasting Table pouring this wine.
We loved it then
and still today!

94 Points The Wine Spectator
"A wine that captures what's best about Dry Creek, offering loads of briary raspberry and cherry flavors, with toasty sage, cinnamon and pepper accents that finish on a dynamic note.
Drink now through 2029."

91 Points
The Wine Enthusiast
"This brawny, unabashedly ripe, supple wine is thick in baked plum, dark cherry and mocha,
with a viscosity
that expands on the palate. Baking spice and cola mingle and add to the opulent style."
The core of this wine comes from Chen’s Vineyard,
planted in 1972 by fourth-generation winemaker Ted Seghesio and his father Ed.
The site resides along the creek where the sandy soils produce rarefied Zinfandel.

Our Thoughts.........

Bright aromas of dark cherry and black raspberry.
Upfront fruit appeal supported with underpinnings of complexity and slight white pepper spice that succeeds on the strength of both balance and richness.  Soft entry develops into a  full mid-palate.
Finish strikes ideal balance of tannins, fruit and acidity.
Pair with grilled or herb-rubbed meats, spicy cuisine and hearty pasta dishes.

2021 marks Seghesio Family Vineyards’126th Anniversary!

Established in 1895, Seghesio Family Vineyards produces benchmark Zinfandels that honor five generations of winegrowing leadership, and share the heart of Sonoma County and our Italian heritage. Seghesio Family Vineyards encompasses more than 300 acres of estate vineyards in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys – that also represent a significant amount of Old Vine plantings that are more than 50 years old and up to 125 years old. With a passionate belief that wine is made in the vineyard, Seghesio Family Vineyards pairs more than a century’s worth of experience in the vineyard with labor-intensive farming techniques that reduce yields, increase quality and ensure wines of outstanding purity and balance. True to the winery’s heritage, Seghesio Family Vineyards is focused mainly on Zinfandel and a handful of Italian varieties. Andy Robinson is the winemaker.
