You may remember last year we featured the 2016 of this bottling only to sell out the vintage!

North of Madrid and west of Zaragoza sits Bodegas Palacio del Burgo,
the winery nestled just off of Plaza San Pedro
is where these six families have joined together to make exceptional value wines.
By the way, if you ever get the chance,
go to Old Town Zaragoza for the best ever tapas and wine tasting experience!

92 Points James Suckling
"Sweet berries and cherries with some flowers. Light cream and floral undertones.
Medium body. Medium, round tannins and a pretty finish.
Shows freshness for the vintage. Drink now."

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

Red ruby in color, black pepper and spice flavors and black fruit too. This Reserva has developed a rich, generous texture, balancing sweet fruit with smoky savor. Enjoy with hardy cheeses and soups/chilli, Paella/Jambalaya and of course grilled meats.

A bit about Bodegas Palacio del Burgo in their words....

Six families of farmers dreamt of winemaking and founded Bodegas Burgo Viejo in 1987 and after several cooperative attempts  BURGO VIEJO was finally brought to life.

These families´ vineyards produce all wine varieties registered under the Denomination of Origin Rioja – DOR such as Tempranillo Variety grown in the soils of the landscapes of Yerga, Rigüelo, The Valley and Tambarría, the Garnacha Variety - to be found in the soils of Casillón, Cascajo and Mazuela en la Senda, and the Viura Variety.

Burgo Viejo´s main asset has always been the exquisite winemaking process of grapes collected from its own vineyards throughout the years back to the times when we were just a wine cellar selling bulk wine until present day when Burgo Viejo wines have become global and are exported to distant places like Japan, Denmark, and the U.S.
The 200-hectare vineyard carefully grown by these six families of old savvy winemakers farming the land the old natural way produces a broad set of wines by combining the oldest winemaking traditions at La Rioja and new market trends in an effort to meet the clients´ needs.
