The Chakana Argentinian Wines!!
Chakana is the name of the Southern Cross constellation.
Its rotation in the sky throughout the year made it
an effective agricultural calendar for the ancient Andean people.
Chakana Torrontes $16.99
Yellow in the glass. The mild nose delivers aromas of basil, jasmine and a little muscat.
Flavorful in the mouth with a voluminous feel and accomplished freshness that allows room for both fat and a good flow,
it has a slightly chalky texture followed by a pleasantly herbal and fruity finish.
Chakana Cabernet Franc $29.99
A rich reddish color. The nose offers ripe raspberry and blackberry with hints of mint and herbs that enhance the other flavors.
The aging process makes itself felt in the mouth.
The flow has a terse, broad texture initially, but then it grows more compact and linear.
The mild acidity enlivens the reactive tannins, which establishes a good structure.
A balanced take on the year, it will grow milder with more time in the bottle.

"This is a blend of 80% malbec, 15% cabernet franc, and 5% cabernet sauvignon from three areas in the Uco Valley: Altamira, Gualtallary y Chacayes. The presence of the malbec from calcareous alluvial soils in Atlamira and Gualtallary is evident in the firm texture of this wine, the rest are succulent flavors of sweet, friendly, and voluptuous fruits in a wine for steak."

The 2019 Malbec Ayni comes from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley and was aged for 12 months in foudres. Unfiltered, this is an austere red of nuance and depth. The nose is very much that of the region with fresh plum, violets and thyme. The potency is tempered by the aging process in favor of subtlety and the addition of whiffs of smoke, tobacco and cedar. Juicy in the mouth with a striking chalky feel, compact flow and mild character, it is a linear wine but maintains Malbec’s smooth, voluminous nature. An elegant interpretation of a region with character.
